The year at a glance

Twelve months. Three retreats. Three stages.

The clock starts about three months before Japan — so you arrive already connected, already coached and already working on your own retreat concept.

  1. 1

    Month 0

    Prepare

    Roughly January 2027

Community, support, concept brainstorming and pre-retreat guidance. You start building before you ever board a plane.

  2. 2

    Month 3

    Experience It

    Japan · April 5–13, 2027

Your first retreat as a participant — lived fully, and studied from the inside. Stage talk #1.

  3. 3

    Month 9

    Lead It

    Costa Rica · November 1–9, 2027

You return as one of four leaders: your own session, your own stage talk #2, real responsibility.

  4. 4

    Month 12

    Build It

    Asheville, NC · April 3–11, 2028

The cohort co-creates and co-hosts a real retreat together, with an agreed profit share. Stage talk #3.

Pre-trip and post-trip integration are built into every retreat, plus an ongoing community with the potential to participate, lead and host future trips.

Graduate

Ready to host your own retreat.

Not a certificate. Real evidence: a retreat you led, a retreat you helped build, and a network that grows more valuable every year — every leader, host and participant added means more collaborators to build with and more people to fill your room.

And you choose how you do it — on your own, or with our support up to and including a full retreat partnership. Not wanting to run your own retreat? No worries. You walk away with international speaking experience + a massive boost to your visibility and your business.

The four stages

Experience It → Lead It → Build It → Own It

Three retreats, three roles, one year — and then your own retreat. Each stage hands you more responsibility than the last, so by the end you're hosting your own, on your own or with our support.

  • Give your own stage talk in Japan — you're on the mic from the first retreat

The key shift: You stop asking “did I enjoy this?” and start asking “why did this work — and how would I build it for my people?”

Co-Host

The cohort co-creates a real retreat with an experienced host — concept to delivery, with profit share.

  • Positioning, program arc, destination and experience design
  • Budget, pricing, break-even, marketing and enrollment
  • Vendors, logistics, on-site decisions and profit distribution

The key shift: Skin in the game: the profit share is agreed in writing before the build, so the decisions about pricing, cost and risk are actually yours.

Stage 4 · Your own retreat · 2028 and beyond

Own It

Host

You graduate ready to host your own retreat — and you choose how much of the network you want behind you.

  • Run it fully independently: your brand, your margin, 100% yours
  • Or run it with our support, up to and including a full 50/50 retreat partnership
  • Bring your concept, pricing, budget and marketing assets built during the year
  • Keep the network for collaborators, co-leaders, vendors and participants

The key shift: The year ends with readiness and a real choice — and the value of the network keeps compounding as more leaders and participants join it.

Why it works

You don't learn retreats from the sidelines.

Most programs teach concepts first and hope you can translate them into a real experience later. This reverses it: you're inside the room, taking on responsibility in stages, with real participants, real economics and real logistics.

Participants
get a genuinely transformational trip — and learn what makes a retreat exceptional while they're inside one.
Emerging leaders
get a stage, mentorship and real leadership reps without having to carry an entire retreat alone.
Hosts
gain aligned leaders who add to the experience and help invite the right participants.
Co-creators
learn the business by building a real retreat: positioning, pricing, programming, operations and enrollment.
Graduates
leave with proof of real leadership experience and a clear, chosen next step.

The founding cohort

Become one of four Founding Leaders.

Limited to 4. You move through all three retreats together as a founding group — participant in Japan, leader in Costa Rica, co-creator in Asheville — and then run your own retreat with the network behind you.

  • Why four: leading isn't a spectator role. Four is the number where everyone gets a speaking slot, a real workshop, and meaningful transformation for you and your business.
  • What it locks: a reserved leader slot in Costa Rica, co-creation and profit share in Asheville, and first access to every future Retreat Leaders Network retreat.
  • When it starts: about three months before Japan, with community, coaching and concept work — so you're already building before you fly.

The cohort

You don't build this alone.

Four of you start together in Japan. Six months later the same four return in leadership roles. By Asheville you're not learning beside each other anymore — you're building a retreat business together.

  • A built-in peer mastermind and accountability group
  • Four complementary skill sets — and four different audiences
  • A shared leadership team for the final co-created retreat

Who this is for

You don't need to have hosted a retreat before. You do need to show up fully, lead people, invite others and take responsibility.

  • Speakers & authors
  • Community builders
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Aspiring retreat leaders
  • Existing hosts who want a collaborative fill model

A note on the economics: your Costa Rica seat is covered in proportion to the guests you bring — three paying guests covers it fully, fewer covers part of it, and the exact figures are confirmed in writing once Costa Rica pricing is set. The co-created Asheville retreat includes an agreed profit-share structure, and a strong result may offset part, all, or in some cases more than what you put into the year. Both depend on the actual economics and enrollment of those retreats, so neither a covered seat nor a return is guaranteed. See the full leader pathway for details.

Retreat leader · International keynote speaker · One of four leaders, Live Your List Japan 2027 · Host, Costa Rica & Asheville retreats

I've spent the last decade chasing one question: what actually makes people come alive — and how do you build a business around it? The answer, for me, turned out to be rooms full of people far from home. Costa Rica twice. Alaska. Ecuador. Liberia. Five of those trips I led or hosted myself, and I've keynoted stages internationally in between.

Along the way I learned that hosting retreats isn't a hobby you graduate into — it's a craft you get handed. The fastest way I ever learned anything was standing next to someone doing it, then being given the room. That's exactly what this year does: I lead in Japan as one of four leaders under Robert Evans, so you can watch how it's done, then I host Costa Rica and Asheville while you take the stage and help build the retreat.

I'm keeping it to four people on purpose. Four is small enough that you get real attention, real responsibility, and a real share of the work that matters. Additional leaders and guest facilitators from the Live Your List and UnGRIND host community join along the way.

Mentorship & advisory

You're not learning this from one person. You're learning it from decades.

This program includes direct advice and mentorship from Travis Richardson and Robert Evans, founder of Live Your List and the UnGRIND Journey. Between them there are decades of combined retreat experience — hundreds of rooms held, stages run, and trips filled. When you join, you're getting access to some of the best and brightest in the industry.

The graduation

At the end of the year, here's what you can point to.

The goal isn't a certificate. It's real evidence that you can do the work.

  • You've experienced a world-class transformational retreat from the inside.
  • You've led real participants in a live retreat setting.
  • You've invited people into an experience and learned how enrollment actually works.
  • You've co-created the concept, operations and economics of a retreat.
  • You've helped deliver a collaborative retreat with real money on the line.
  • You're ready to design and host your own — with a network around you.

Go from aspiring retreat leader to experienced retreat creator in one immersive year — by experiencing it, leading it, building it, and being ready to own it.

After the year

After the year, you choose how much of us comes with it.

When the year ends you own your own retreat. Run it entirely on your own, or run it with our support — up to and including a full 50/50 retreat partnership with the network's brand and audience behind it.

Option 1

Go Independent

100% yours

You take everything you learned and run your own retreat under your own brand. No fees, no split, no obligation to us.

  • Your concept, your brand, your pricing
  • You keep the network as peers, not as partners
  • Nothing owed either way

Option 2

Partner With Us

50 / 50

We build and run it with you — concept, pricing, operations, marketing and enrollment. Half the work and half the risk on our side, so the revenue splits down the middle.

  • Co-hosted and co-designed with Travis and the team
  • We share the build, the ops and the enrollment push
  • Revenue split 50/50, agreed in writing first
  • Network promotion: podcast, newsletter, IG and site features

Partnering is by mutual agreement, and standards apply — brand, safety, quality and pricing guidelines, plus a written agreement before anything is announced. Going independent always stays open: nobody is locked in.

The network effect

Your collaborator pool grows every year you stay in it.

A retreat rarely fails because the idea was bad. It fails because one person tried to find the leaders, the venue and the guests alone. Under the Retreat Leaders Network umbrella, every leader, host and past participant becomes a resource for everyone else — so retreats actually run, and everyone gets paid.

Vetted leaders
Co-lead with people whose work you've already seen up close — no gambling on a stranger to hold a room with you.
Vetted hosts
Plug into retreats already on the calendar, or bring a host onto yours to share the build and the risk.
A shared participant pool
Every network retreat introduces new travelers to the umbrella. People who loved one retreat are the warmest possible list for the next one — including yours.

Coming with the network

A public retreat leader directory.

Every leader in the network gets a profile — photo, bio, retreat focus and upcoming dates — on a dedicated Retreat Leaders Network directory. It's how travelers find you, and how you find the leaders and hosts you want to build with. Founding Leaders are the first four profiles on it.

These three retreats are the beginning. The network is expanding into new categories and new places, and every future retreat is offered to the founding cohort first.
